    By Guest |

Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, is pleased to introduce the CSM Series Concert Snare Drums, which have been designed using the distinctive features found in the finest concert snare drums in the industry. The new snares are comprised of three versions, the CSM-1340A, measuring 13" x 4.5", the CSM 1450A measures 14" x 5" and the CSM 1465A, which measures 14" x 6.5". Each drum is constructed of six-ply North American Maple using Yamaha's exclusive Air-Seal System and features three-piece Tubular Lugs that ensure consistent tuning and maximized shell vibration. The CSM Series draws inspiration from Yamaha's legendary Grand Symphonic Series of drums, which can be heard played by percussionists of the world's top orchestras.

Ideal for high school and college performing ensembles seeking a pure concert snare sound, the CSM Series snares also feature a 30/45 double-cut bearing edge, which allows the middle ply of the shell to vibrate first and then spread through the remaining plies of the shell. The increased speed of vibration results in a more focused, articulate sound. The CSM-1450 and CSM-1465 feature an uncoated stainless steel straight cable strainer in the box as an additional option to the standard stainless steel coiled wire strainer.

"Since our very popular Grand Symphonic Series was introduced our customers have inquired about incorporating the features of those top drums into more student and intermediate model snare drums," says Troy Wollwage, Marketing Manager, Yamaha Percussion. "With the new CSM Series Concert Snares, Yamaha is able to make that a reality."

In the process of designing and constructing the new snares, Yamaha utilized the process of vertical integration. This unique process has the design team using the same craftsmanship as they use for top level instruments and move it down with the same specifications throughout all other models. What remains is a higher quality instrument at a student or intermediary level that shares many of the same design features as the professional model.

Currently available, the CSM Series Snare Drums have an MSRP of $534-610 depending on the model. The snares also are available with System Pricing, which makes it beneficial to buy in bundles rather than components.
