  • Trigger I/O Percussion Interface Tool

    By Guest |

Alesis introduces the Trigger I/O percussion interface, a tool for bridging the gap between real drum performance and computer-enabled electronic sound.

The Trigger I/O uses electronic triggers placed on traditional acoustic percussion sources, such as drum heads or cymbals, or electronic drum pad triggers, and converts them into MIDI note messages. With MIDI and USB 1.1 Plug and Play connectivity, the artist can expand performance options exponentially: using the Trigger I/O, percussionists can, play sounds on synths, drum modules, or even a computer, without leaving the drumkit.

With ten inputs, the Trigger I/O gives the performer plenty of options. The Trigger I/O's dual zone inputs select two different surface areas of the percussion instrument. For example, hit the center of the snare and it reproduces flawlessly, and a rim shot still cracks like a rim shot. Both the single and dual zone inputs are fully compatible with acoustic and pad triggers from various manufacturers. (Complete list is available at www.alesis.com.)

Plus, whenever artists reach that perfect sound combination, the Trigger I/O has 20 programmable presets to store and recall their setups. A hi-hat input lets musicians switch effortlessly between on/off and continuous control modes, while the unique up/down footswitch input selects kits remotely, without ever missing a beat.

Alesis designed the intuitive interface, compatible with both PCs and Macs, with the user in mind; setup and editing are designed to be fast and seamlessIn addition, the trigger settings are completely customizable for sensitivity. Users also can assign MIDI Channels, Note Numbers, Crosstalk, velocity curve, threshold settings, retrigger times, and pad types.

The Trigger I/O even includes mounting holes for an optional drum stand, so it's at home in any environment. The new interface is made for digital versatility and arrived bundled with BFD Lite software that contains a full range of professional-quality drum libraries. The software's multi-velocity kits, customizable drum sounds, microphone mixing features, and preset grooves bring every artist into a whole new performance realm.
