Mapex Drums announced the VX Series of drum sets at the Summer NAMM 2004 Convention. The basswood shell drums will be offered in a Mapex exclusive "3-D plasma lacquer" finish with matching lacquered bass drum hoops.

The company also announced a consumer incentive on the new VX Series. Drummers purchasing a VX Series kit between now and December 31, 2004, will receive a coupon for a free Mapex Pro-Series snare drum. The Pro-Series 10" x 5" steel snare drum carries an MSRP of $160, and will be available directly from Mapex with the coupon and proof of purchase. This promotion will be heavily advertised throughout the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2004.

Five-piece Mapex VX series drumsets will carry an MSRP of $1,039.

VX Series drum kits include 9-ply, 8.1mm basswood drum shells and a matching basswood snare drum. Offered in as many as six different configurations, VX Series kits include Mapex 320-series double-braced hardware and are also available with an add-on tom package, consisting of two toms, an 8" x 8" and a 8" x 10". Mapex is rolling out this unique and lacquered finish in color options: plasma black, plasma ruby, plasma sapphire and plasma slate.

VX Series drum sets are offered with Chindal cast cymbals, and include two 14" hi-hats, as well as 16" and 18" crash cymbals complete with an embroidered padded cymbal bag.
