Glaresoft has released their drum machine, iDrum, in Digidesign's Real Time Audio Suite (RTAS) plug-in format
iDrum offers a virtually unlimited number of sample-playback channels and comes with a large collection of percussion samples from which to choose. Of course, you can use any of the samples in your own library as well. You can add channels one-by-one to build the exact kit you want, or load one of iDrum's factory kits.
Individual channel programming is extremely simple, with controls for volume, pan position, mute and solo, and a retractable drawer for adjusting pitch, decay, filter, and bitcrushing parameters. Convenient rocker switches and drop-down menus allow you to quickly change a channel's sample or an entire kit.
Pattern and song sequencers fill out iDrum's bag of tricks. Patterns are one bar long and can be programmed in 16th, 32nd, or 64th-note steps. Patterns can be linked to form songs, and both patterns and songs can be programmed in real time as iDrum plays.
iDrum kits include all channel settings, loaded samples, and pattern and song information. More than 150 factory kits are provided, covering a variety of genres and styles.
Pricing & Availability
iDrum is available immediately for a suggested retail price of $69.95 (US) directly from Glaresoft and through authorized Glaresoft dealers.
System Requirements
iDrum RTAS requires Mac OS X v10.3.2 or later, QuickTime 6.4 or later, a Macintosh computer with PowerPC 600 MHz or faster G4 or G5 processor. For plug-in operation, iDrum RTAS requires a Pro Tools 6.4 or later system.
