  • Poor Quality of Bass Sounds Leads to Invention to be Featured at 2010 L.A. Amp Show

    By Guest |

As a bass guitarist, Cliff Latshaw was dissatisfied with the quality of amplified bass sounds. Although there are several bass pre-amplifiers on the market none of them provided the clarity Cliff desired. He found many of the bass notes muffled and indistinct.

Cliff’s dissatisfaction was the genesis of the Nitewalker Bass Guitar Tube Preamp.  Drawing on technology from the 1930’s and 1940’s Cliff developed a bass pre amp. Cliff, who studied music at Denison University and later the Berklee College of Music notes, “I did not develop this product with the thought to make a ton of money.  In fact I provide a schematic of this product on my website nitewalkerpreamp.com for any ambitious musician who wants to go to the time and expense to develop their own.”  The retail price of these preamps is $1195.00.

Cliff  has applied for a patent on the product and when he isn’t working his day time job he spends time getting the word out about this musical innovation.  Because of budget limitations Cliff has focused on attending musician swap meets in Southern California.  Loni Spector, the inspiration behind the Amp Show attended the swap meet and traded a space at the show for one  of the preamps.

The L.A. Amp Show will be happening on Oct 2nd and 3rd from 10AM to 6PM at the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys, CA. Cliff is planning on investing in attending  NAMM fest and other high profile music conventions to spread the word if all goes well at the Amp Show. “What it comes down to”, says Cliff, “is the individual musician who plays a bass instrument and recognizes the importance of improving the quality and color of the sound produced to enhance overall music quality. In this day and age of synthetic sound produced through computers there is definitely a place for the individual performer producing quality sound that adds to listening pleasure.
