New for 2002, MAG bass amps get an increase in power to 250 watts rms, making them ideal for use by the busy semo-pro bassist playing relatively large venues. In the process, the MAG 250s have also received a complete new circuit and transformer designs, resulting in lower noise and faster attack.

Easily recognisable by their new silver front panels and classic Ashdown VU meters, the new MAG 250 head and combos retain all of the sophisticated facilities of their predecessors including precision 5 band EQ, Bright and Deep push switches, balanced DI output and tuner/line output. And of course, central to bone-crushing tone of any Ashdown bass amplifier, the MAG 250s also feature a sub-harmoniser with variable level control.

The full Ashdown MAG 250 bass range includes an amplifier head, 1x15,l 2x10 and 4x10 combos and 1x15, 2x10 and 4x10 cabinets. Ashdown BlueLine speakers are used throughout for enhanced attack, clarity and low-end performance and tough carpet covering and rugged metal grilles provide a high level of protection on the road.

Commenting on the launch of the new, uprated MAG 250s, Ashdown's Mark Gooday said " I speak to lots of players who want full-blooded Ashdown tone but without the sophisticated features and connectivity of our ABM amps. The MAGs are perfect for these guys, particularly with the extra grunt of a 250 watt power section."
