New for 2010, the RP PorchBoard Bass offers the same big sound as our original PorchBoard but in a smaller package. We've tweaked the design to lesson the weight, shorten the length, and lowered the profile to better accommodate seated and standing performers. Like the original PorchBoard introduced in 1994, the RP PorchBoards adds amplified, analog, real time, low-end percussive self accompaniment with a simple tap of the foot. The musician controls style, tempo and volume, allowing audience interaction and a natural, player-controlled bass beat no matter what type of music. The PorchBoard is the perfect self-accompaniment instrument for guitarists, drummers and percussionists of all styles of music. As with all model PorchBoards, our patented passive sensor system is specifically tuned to provide an analog, dynamic, clean bass beat without the usual low-end amplification difficulties. Our system avoids the common problems associated with resonant surface requirements of microphones and piezo pickups and the wide frequency range of guitar style pickups, allowing a consistent, rich, low-end thump without noise or feedback. The RP PorchBoard features a 3 way frequency response switch to accomodate system limitations: the (low) setting allows for the very low bass (original Porch Board sound), perfect for full range amplifiers, subwoofers or quality bass amp usage, the (mix) setting filters in a mix of low and high frequencies, and the (high) setting provides for high end, stompbox slap.
