eMedia Music Corp., publisher of eMedia Guitar Method announced the release of eMedia Bass Method.

eMedia Bass Method is the first comprehensive software title to teach bass guitar. It is perfectly suited for the beginner who has never played a bass as well as for bass players who wish to learn how to systematically construct an interesting bass line. eMedia's previous Guitar Method CD-ROM was named top 50 CD-ROM of the year by Newsweek.

This groundbreaking bass tutorial features over 100 step-by-step lessons, an animated fretboard, recorded audio and variable-speed MIDI audio. These are supplemented by over 30 full-motion videos of bass instructor John Arbo demonstrating techniques. Split-screen video and close-ups make the techniques as clear as possible. An automatic tuner, recorder and metronome are included to give players everything they need for a successful and enjoyable learning experience.

eMedia's animated fretboard technology shows exactly where to place your fingers when playing a bass line and is synchronized with highlighted music notation. Variable-speed MIDI audio tracks supplement the recorded songs and exercises, enabling the student to learn at a tempo best suited to his or her skill level. On many of the songs full multi-track recordings give the student the option to play along with the full-band recording, a bass-only version or a version of the song excluding the bass. eMedia's Bass Method is song oriented, motivating students by getting them playing right away. Music notation and tablature are introduced in later chapters.

Over 200 songs and exercises with many hit songs are included in eMedia's Bass Method, in order to make the learning process fun and engaging. This includes "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan, "Uncle John's Band" by the Grateful Dead and "Rock N' Me" by Steve Miller. Some of the other popular songs included are "La Bamba," "Scarborough Fair" and "House of the Rising Sun." Many of the songs in eMedia's Bass Method are also found in eMedia's Guitar Method, so guitar and bass students who learn from eMedia's methods can enjoy making music together from the very start.

eMedia has a staff of highly skilled and experienced professionals and continues its tradition of using only the best in the field. Instructor John Arbo is an exceptional bassist whose teaching experience spans over 25 years. Presently John is on the music faculty of the New School in New York City. He has performed with Liza Minnelli, Woody Herman and Les Paul, among others. For the past six years John was the bassist for the Broadway production of "Miss Saigon" and is the current bassist for the Broadway revival of "42nd Street."

eMedia Bass Method is a Windows/Macintosh cross-platform CD-ROM and will be available at music and computer retailers nationwide for an estimated street price of $59.95.
