  • Alexander Publishing Releases How Ravel Orchestrated: Mother Goose Suite

    By Guest |

Alexander Publishing has teamed with Naxos Recordings, the world's leading classical recording label, for How Ravel Orchestrated: Mother Goose Suite. This breakthrough in orchestration instruction includes a newly engraved score featuring the condensed Piano part at page bottom along with the Naxos Recording of Mother Goose Suite by the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Kenneth Jean.

In this 200-page work, each of the five movements is preceded by the complete short story that French composer Maurice Ravel used to guide his composing, giving the student a better understanding of dramatic composition and scoring. Following each movement is a brief analysis, including electronic scoring insights, based on the Eight Keys To Learning Professional Orchestration as taught in Alexander Publishing's Professional Orchestration™ Series, the first multi-volume orchestration instruction series ever released by an American publisher.

Rounding out How Ravel Orchestrated: Mother Goose Suite is a summary of how Ravel worked and two literary works by Virginia poet, Edgar Allan Poe, which deeply influenced Ravel: The Philosophy of Composition and The Poetic Principle. Also included as a free downloadable bonus, are two PDF copies of the score. The first is a duplicate of the original in the book, and the second, another first, is color-coded showing the Eight Keys to Learning Professional Orchestration™ applied.
