Members whosbootiestank
My drummer wants to dampen the sound of the cymbal a little and was wondering if there is a way. By this i mean make it less loud. Anyone know? Thanks.
Members xerosleep
You can stick tape underneith them. I'm sure there is a better way but I did that with a friends cheap set and it make a world of a difference. didn't have that cheap loud ringing noise to it anymore. Members Old Steve
You could put a towel over 'em. That kind of works. Sadly, cymbals aren't really 'tuneable'. Muffling them also changes things like their pitch, stick definition, and the attack/decay of the cymbal itself.
Members Adan_V
I seen a drummer use a very small & light rag. He tied it to the nut and let the rag rest on the cymbal.
Members mtrobbin
I use a small piece of electrical tape on my ride. It's only about 3 inches long, but it sounds much better with it. Also, I did spend a good amount of time experimenting with where and what size tape worked the best.
Members Deathkrush
Why would someone dampen the ride? Mine is never loud enough, being B8 and all. Any suggestions to make it louder instead?
Members mtrobbin
I dampened mine cause it was ringing out of control. Even on soft hits the ring was too much for me. To make it louder, you can try a larger stick size, or you could mic it and run it through an amp:)
Members FroStStix
ive alwayus used tape to dampen...but tape itself aint gonna do much..get some cotton wool or something and stick it under the tape...and it works real well...gives it a nice tone aswell...
