Members BEAD
I don't understand the question. Just play along to the songs using the fretless bass.

I play in a metal band...and I use a fretless. I just play the thing. Once you start using it more often, you'll probably come up with a different way to play some of your lines. Then when you go back to a fretted, you'll notice these little "speed bumps" all over the neck that just seem to get in the way!
Members bassman1956
Yeup. Just play it wherever you'd play your bass.
Members RSBro
Finally having an unlined opened up the gates for me. Lined just didn't work as well, odd as that may seem.I try to play it as much as possible.

Members RSBro
Yeah, lines really fudge with my head. Hey man, I was shocked too! I was totally lost on my lined fretless Q5. This one I can just feel it more by ear. It's weird.
Members L-1329
Yeah, lines really fudge with my head. Lines ruin the sexay look of a fretless. Mine is line-less, but has a side dot at each fret position.

I use the side dots, just to get me in the ballpark. Then use my ears from there. I'm sure you could say "well, do the same with the lined fretboards," but that just doesn't work for me. Members Mytola
I prefer the lined ones myself. I think they look better as well.
