Members Suilebhain
I just bought a used Waldorf MicroQ and it came pretty much wiped of sounds. I wanted to try out some of the patches Doc T has on his site but wanted to preview them first. The Readme files suggest using a Midi File Player to do so, but when I try to find one they are always something else, like a Karaoke thingy. Can someone recommend something simple and free (or demo) that I can use to perform this function? Thanks in advance.
Members Dr.Innovation
Doesn't Windows Media Player do this?
Members Suilebhain
Hmm, maybe. I tried it yesterday and got no sound, even though the file progressed through.
Members Dr.Innovation
Well, I've seen CWPA 9.0 either cheap as heck or free to download.... That is a midi sequencer's dream IMO and it plays midi files.
Members Suilebhain
I found lots of links to CWPA 9 but they all seem closed down, maybe Roland decided they didn't want anyone giving it away.
Members Dr.Innovation
Sorry man, have you tried the free version of pro tools? I wish I could help. IF I could find my CWPA 9.0 I'd give it to you.
Members Meatball Fulton
Almost any software sequencer can load Standard MIDI files, there's plenty of free ones around.
Members Suilebhain
No worries, Doc. I appreciate your help. I've tried to make Fruity Loops work but I don't seem to be making the connections needed to get the patch to the part of the program that makes the patch sound off. That's why I was hoping to find something simple for this purpose. I am trying to avoid having to spend a lot of time learning the program in order to load the patches. Members Dr.Innovation
Well, good luck:thu:Hopefully a solution will present itself. In the meantime why don't you have a listen to this:http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=868853 Its called "River." -The intro to River is 1st... It might relax you a bit:)
Members Meatball Fulton
Those files contain sysex commands buried in a MIDI file. There's no music/sound, just patch data. You just want to "play" the file out of the MIDI port connected to your MicroQ.
Members Suilebhain
Okay, here's a real noob question. I decided not to bother reviewing the patches like this. I am going to reload the factory presets so I can at least hear something other than a sine wave really soon, and worry about tweaking and programming later. What do I need to tell Midi-Ox so that it sends the Factory Defaults to the MicroQ? I am a real noob at this.
