Members Pete
Hey guys i need a little help here, i have a 79' les paul custom that is butter to play. But compared to my ibanez jem dbk it just doesn't have as much gain or bite, kinda sounds a little muffled. It has the original pickups, 498 in bridge, how would the JB stack up to this? I'm lookin for more attack b/c i love to play 80's type of hard rock/metal. Any opinions are needed here, thanks guys.
Members Tonemeister87
The JB would fit the bill VERY nicely Also, check out the Dimarzio The Breed
Members dylannelson
EMGs would smoke in that guitar if your looking for that kind of sound, +1 on the JB also
Members DirtyChains
Duncan '59 or Jazz in the neck and a JB or Custom in the bridge will work nicely! I like a 60 in the neck and an 81 in the bridge on LPs. The 85 is just too bassy, IMO.
Members seajay
You may want to consider changing the electronics too. Usually 500K volume & tone controls are recommended for humbuckers. Gibson was all over the map with the electronics they used back then.
