Members ratter
A possible contender to replace my 1959HW? Timmons is getting some killer tone out of his LS rig. Who else is playing a LS?
Members danbronson
Very different amp from a 1959HW, but really, really great. Coming out of Marshall-land, it might feel a bit weird though. Take a lot of time to get used to how it reacts and how to dial it in if you decide to go for it. Members ratter
Yeah, I don't expect any common ground whatsoever. I'm just looking for something with a manageable volume and a good clean and medium gain tone.
Members danbronson
Certainly worth a try. You might be surprised how much gain it has too coming from a plexi, and how you sort of need it for that fluid lead tone. If it works for you though. Members Slaytallica
Yeah I'm digging Timmons tone on that album. From the cleans to his over gain tone. Absolutely killer. Definately gassin for a LS.
Members Simon Garlick
The Lonestar has the best cleans I've ever heard out of a Mesa.
Members LackLuster ®
I had the opportunity to play one for awhile and it is a really fun amp, I love to set it up with a dirty saggy clean. With a strat its heavenly.
Members vlad
If you're looking for "Resolution" tone.. Timmons didn't use the Lonestar at all on that album. He supposedly used his '68 Plexi and JMP with a BK Butler Tube Driver.

It's basically that exact tone...

The Marshall is to loud for him to get any real playing time in. Even with a Hotplate. If you like the Marhsall tone better thats fine. Some will like the LS better. The Lonestar can be switched down in wattage. Something guys with families and small children can appreciate. As far as tone... I don't feel the need to defend Mesa.
