Members Leftovercrack
well i was looking at this thread and i realized i would have no idea how to tell a fake lp from a real one without knowing what to look for and playing one. So i was thinking why not make a thread about how to tell a fake guitar from a real one and known sites/ people that sell them? i know theres something about truss rod covers and or something but also lets not keep this to just les pauls, anything that is faked. pictures and stories help

Members tiltsta
I think last week we decided that Brazilian rosewood fretboards taste better than cheaper woods used on imports (well, maybe not imports from Brazil).

Members rparchen
well i was looking at this thread and i realized i would have no idea how to tell a fake lp from a real one without knowing what to look for and playing one. What? That LP is fake? lol, I'm glad someone posted that youtube link though. I know mine has a 2-screw truss cover and the pickup cavity wasn't painted black so that doesn't go for all of them. The tell-all for me is the headstock shape as a fake one is slightly "flatter" than a real Gibby. The logo angle of mine is pretty darn close. I'm guessing the fakes are only going to get tougher to spot in the future.
