    By Guest |

At Winter NAMM, BIAS announced that its multi-effects control environment, Vbox, has been updated to version 1.2 on Mac OS X and adds compatibility with BIAS' new noise reduction product SoundSoap. Vbox 1.2 is even faster on OS X now, as it is a native Mach-O application.

BIAS Vbox is a graphic control environment for VST plug-ins that offers unprecedented creative control. With its ability to combine, repatch, and mix multiple VST plug-in effects - up to hundreds of simultaneous plug-ins per channel - millions of unique sonic combinations are possible. And since it's compatible with a huge range of commercial, shareware, and freeware VST plug-ins, no other effects processing program is more flexible, compatible, and powerful.

Vbox integrates into any VST host application - including BIAS Peak, BIAS Deck, Steinberg Cubase, Steinberg Nuendo, and others - for realtime effects processing. Vbox also works as a free-standing application that can process and save audio files - or even record, process, and save a live feed.

A host of additional features make Vbox the virtual effects box of choice for most any professional audio project, including creative sound effects design, mastering, DJ'ing, live performance, audio post-production, and radio production.

"Now you can use our fantastic new audio restoration product SoundSoap within the unique Vbox environment," said Steve Berkley, CEO and President of BIAS, Inc. "There's simply no other way to combine plug-ins for sound design, mastering, and audio-restoration than with Vbox, and this free update makes Vbox faster and even more powerful."

Vbox for Mac OS X is fully Carbonized, and will run under either Mac OS X or OS 9. Vbox SE - identical to Vbox, except for the latter's free-standing capability - is also Carbonized, and has been fully integrated within Peak 3, BIAS' award-winning editing/processing/mastering application. Vbox SE will also be bundled free with Deck 3.5, BIAS' multitrack digital audio workstation program.

Vbox 1.2 is also fully compatible with Apple's Mac OS X v10.2 Jaguar and the most recent Mac OS 10.2.3 update which addresses several issues with audio on OS X including reliability with USB audio device playback and recording.

BIAS Vbox for Windows supports Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. BIAS Vbox 1.1 for Windows also supports the new BIAS SoundSoap audio restoration software.

    Clean Machine

Vbox 1.2 supports BIAS' new audio restoration product SoundSoap as a Mach-O VST Plug-in. SoundSoap is the first professional-quality noise reduction solution that's also easy enough for average consumers to use effectively. By adjusting just two knobs, anyone can reduce unwanted hiss, room noise, rumble, electrical hum, and other background noise from almost any digital media file - including digital video (DV) soundtracks, PowerPoint and other presentation software soundtracks, Flash and other web-tool soundtracks, digital audio workstation tracks, cassette or other analog tape recordings that have been transferred to a computer, and other sources.

    Pricing and Availability

BIAS Vbox 1.2 for Mac OS X is already shipping and is available for a suggested retail price of US $99. (Vbox SE for OS X is bundled free with BIAS Peak 3.2 and BIAS Deck 3.5.) Vbox is available through the worldwide network of authorized BIAS dealers and distributors.
