In the blue wake of Living Jewels, the koi fish guitar that launched Taylors new Gallery series last Winter, comes a second model, the Gallery Series Sea Turtle. The concept for the GSST came about by accident, when a staffer in Taylors design shop happened to wear a sea turtle pendant to work one day. The staffer commented that a similar design would make a cool inlay. Pete Davies, Jr., who designed the koi fish inlay, overheard the comment, and promptly began working on a sea turtle design. A few hours later, everyone agreed it was an inspired piece of work.
The Grand Auditorium GSST features back and sides of premium, unstained curly maple and a spruce top, with faux-tortoiseshell binding. Brilliantly colored inlays of sea turtles glide on an ebony fingerboard. On the back of the guitar, a turtle and delicate-hued jellyfish drift on luminous waves of maple.
There will be 100 of the Gallery Series Sea Turtle guitars made.
