Studiomaster Celebrates 30 Years With New Vocal Management System

Studiomaster by RSD is celebrating their 30th anniversary with the introduction of the new VMS - Vocal Management System. The Studiomaster engineers have teamed up with Court Acoustics U.K. in a joint project development of the new VMS.

The VMS's unique design provides studio quality enhancement for the vocalist in a live performance environment, delivering cutting edge processing power in a 1-space rackmount unit.

The VMS incorporates a high performance microphone preamp with selected audio processors. The VMS has parallel mic inputs utilizing professional Neutrik combo XLR/1/4" jacks with a connector located at the front and rear panel for convenience. A 6-position gain control governs precise adjustment of the microphone input level control with the signal routed to a pre-set internal optical compressor/limiter. A bypass switch allows for instant comparison of the compressed and dry signal. A 7-band graphic EQ specifically tailored to address the vocal range of frequencies, provides further enhancement and control of the audio signal.

An onboard DSP reverb/effects module w/level control features six preset digital reverb/effects settings again specifically tailored for vocals. The VMS also features a variable noise gate providing the ability to filter out background ambient noise and chatter from the vocal mic. Other features include: DSP on/off footswitch jack, a 1/4" direct out, channel insert jack, balanced XLR and 1/4" main output with mic/line level select, hi pass filter, headphone jack and variable output level control. Bright front panel LED meters indicate status for: 48v phantom, 4 segment 3 color compressor/limiter gain reduction, gate on/off, bypass, reverb on/off, reverb memory select and 8 segment 2 color output level bargraph.
