Introduced in the fall of 2002, the SM86 combines a live performance microphone with the sound of a Shure condenser. Representing the first new model added to the SM family in over a decade, the hardwired vocal mic will soon be made available as a wireless capsule in Shure's SLX, ULX, and UHF systems in March of 2004.

Like the hardwired SM86, wireless SM86 capsules will have a cardioid pattern and frequency response of 50 Hz to 18 kHz. Delivering high gain-before-feedback and a tailored response for the clear reproduction of vocals, the wireless models will be an excellent selection for use with traditional stage monitors, as well as personal monitors. In addition, all wireless handheld SM86 transmitters will be equipped with an integral two-stage windscreen and pop filter, as well as a built-in, three-point shock mount which virtually eliminates stand and handling noise.

Slated for shipment in March 2004, wireless systems offering the SM86 capsule will be available exclusively from Shure dealers nationwide.
