Simian Mobile Disco plays live, with special guests The Juan Maclean (dj set), Blondes, and Chicago’s Derek Specs at The Mid on Wednesday, March 16th, doors are at 8 pm. The Mid, in association with React Presents, is opening their doors on off hours for touring bands, and SMD is rolling through Chicago on the Delicacies US tour.
UK’s Simian Mobile Disco began as the band Simian, and evolved into a traveling DJ duo. They are well known for their remixes and have worked with the likes of Peaches, Klaxons, and The Arctic Monkeys. Since their beginnings in 2005, the group has gained a large following, becoming the leaders of the acid house-rock-crossover scene. In 2010, SMD released Delicacies, an album that compiled a series of techno records they released that year. They are taking the album on the road and stopping by The Mid. Also on the bill of the Delicacies tour are Juan Maclean – deejay and once colleague of James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), and Blondes – a Brooklyn-based hypno-beat duo.
