  • RTW Takes On Loudness Control At Prolight + Sound 2010

    By Guest |

RTW will showcase at this year's Prolight + Sound show (Hall 9, Stand C25) its SurroundControl 31960, products from the DigitalMonitor 10500 and SurroundMonitor 10600 series, as well as its 1252DIG Series Peak Program Meter. Combining control, analysis and monitoring of up to eight-channel surround sound into one single system, the SurroundControl 31960, a compact, 3-RU rack-mountable module that fits into half the space of a standard 19-inch installation racks for waveform monitors, is perfect for studios working on video production, post-production and live entertainment projects. At the heart of the 31960 series is RTW's unique Surround Sound Analyzer, the house-shaped display offering an easy-to-read visual report of overall sound loudness and sound pressure level, phase correlation and level differences among channels. The SurroundMonitor 10600-PLUS is a six-channel desktop audio vectorscope with Peak Program Meter, ITU BS.1771 Loudness Meter, surround sound analyzer and digital inputs. The 10600-PLUS is especially designed for multichannel and surround sound that supports 2/0, 3/0, 3/1 and 5.1 formats. Additional modes include a 31 band RTA, real time vectorscopes (two-channel), multi-phase meters and an AES/EBU status monitor. A reliable and standardized method for evaluating program loudness that is essential for audio and video professionals faced with the challenges of loudness control, the DigitalMonitor 10500X-PLUS features an integrated loudness measurement as per the recent ITU BS.1771 loudness standard for stereo signals. These loudness measurements can be selected as an alternative to the usual peak meter bar graphs. Presets enable the user to switch between the two modes at any time. Selection of the new mode activates an ITU-compliant scale for the loudness display calibrated in loudness units (dB LU) or LKFS from -21 up to +9. Designed for professional and semi-professional digital technology, the 1252DIG Series Peak Program Meter has a standard AES/EBU input, as well as an S/PDIF and a TOS-Link interface. Great for smaller environments, the compact tabletop unit also comes with optional rack mount kits for 19" rack installation. Its high-resolution 201-segment gas plasma display has a scale length of 127 mm. Its twin scales can be used for monitoring multiple standards. Additional features include XLR connectors für AES/EBU and an integrated 115/230 V AC power supply unit.
