  • Rico Gives the Gift of Music with the Help of Hundreds of Musicians and a Major Music Retailer

    By Guest |

Rico’s Unique “Play It Forward” Gift-Giving Program Arms Every Rico Artist with the Ability to Gift $50 in Rico Gear, which will be Shipped Free from Woodwind & Brasswind, to the Musician or Organization of His or Her Choice

This holiday season Rico pays it forward with Play It Forward, a unique gift-giving program that enables all Rico artists to give $50 in free Rico products to the musician or organization of their choice. If every Rico artist takes advantage of this special gift-giving opportunity, $15,000 in Rico products will have reached people and organizations that need them, which will bring a little more joy to the world this holiday season.

“We believe that the spirit of giving is alive and well this holiday season,” commented Rico Product Manager, Robert Polan. “Play It Forward is our way of sharing that spirit with our artists and the people close to them.”

All artists on Rico’s roster were recently armed with a special coupon code that they can gift to whomever they choose. The code can be redeemed for up to $50 worth of Rico products – including reeds, mouthpieces, instrument care and cleaning supplies, and more – from musical instrument retailer Woodwind & Brasswind. The merchandise is generously shipped for free by Woodwind & Brasswind to the recipient.

Many Rico artists have already taken advantage of the program. GRAMMY® award-winning saxophonist Kenny G, GRAMMY® award-nominated saxophonist Dave Koz, and distinguished professor of music at Miami University Michele Gingras have all provided free Rico products to their fellow musicians.

“My gift went to a wonderful young saxophonist and cancer-survivor I met through the Starlight Foundation,” says Dave Koz. “He’s a super-talented individual who does so much to give back to his community; I couldn’t wait to give him this gift in Rico products.”

Play It Forward is designed to spread the spirit of giving to all people, not just musicians. To do so, Rico is encouraging their artists to broadcast their gift-giving experience on their websites, through Facebook, and on Twitter in the hope that the positive message will inspire others to do the same. Artists are tweeting their experiences with hashtag #PlayitForward.

The Play it Forward program is another example of D’Addario & Company’s dedication to inspiring all musicians to reach for higher levels of performance and creativity.
