  • Recording School Online Releases "Extreme Punch 8"

So what was so great about analog?

Well, one of the best things about the analog world was analog tape. Why? Because of analog tape compression. Analog tape is made up of magnetic particles. Since there is a finite amount of particles on the tape there is a limit to the amount of audio that can be recorded to it. Once that amount has been reached, the particles become "saturated". The result is a dense, punchy sound.

This is exactly what Extreme Punch was designed to replicate. We are proud to release Extreme Punch 8, a whole new design from previous versions and the most "saturated" yet.

Extreme Punch is a VST plugin designed to bring analog tape compression into the often sterile digital world. Unlike most VST plugins that try to capture the sound of tape, Extreme Punch 8 was designed to accurately capture the dynamics and density of tape saturation. The best thing is that you can control the amount of density your track has. This is an great way to make those guitars sit in the mix while standing out fat and punchy.
