When Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason contacted Protection Racket last year to inquire about ordering some cases, it wasn’t your average request that saw Nick calling up the company.

Nick, who had already purchased Protection Racket cases in the past, was re-organizing his warehouse and drum collection and wanted cases made that had a clear window pocket on them so he could include a photograph of the drums for easy identification.  The order came to over seventy cases, but it didn’t stop there as Nick wanted some very special cases made for his unique Ferrari & the Dark Side of The Moon kits.

Enter the Ferrari kit, an exclusive and exceptional kit made by DW drums with rare permission from Ferrari to use their logo both on the drum kit and the Paiste cymbals that go with it. Nick worked with Protection Racket to develop a set of special custom rigid cases and gained permission from Ferrari to use the logo on the set, in a matching Ferrari red colour. Two sets of the cases were made, one for Nick and the other for the sister kit housed at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello (Modena, Italy ).

Protection Racket are very proud of the special cases made for Nick Mason and continue to work closely with the world’s best rock legends and up and coming drummers. From Deep Purple’s Ian Paice, to Pink’s Mark Schulman, Protection Racket’s roster of artists spans the best of drumming talent and they continue to be the number one choice for drummers all over the solar system… well at least those on the Dark Side of the Moon!
