    TASCAM (Booths 5117 and 403) has announced they are shipping the new CD-RW788 CD Burner to accompany their popular 788 Digital Portastudio, a 24-bit, 8 track hard disk recorder. The CD-RW788 features the acclaimed TEAC 12x10x32 CD-RW drive and comes complete with all cables needed to interface with the 788.

    "With rewrite capabilities on the CD-RW788, users can now do temporary backups of projects they are working on," states Pat Killianey, TASCAM senior product specialist. "This allows users to share and swap projects between various machines similar to using removable hard drives."

    The CD-RW788 also ships with Nero and NeroMAX CD authoring software, allowing the drive to be used with a SCSI equipped MAC/ Windows computers for burning data or audio CDs.

    Another new tool designed to support users of the 788 is the upcoming TASCAM 788 Digital Portastudio video tutorial. This new video will cover the basic operation of the 788 in addition to offering tips and tricks on general recording techniques using the 788. The video is designed to educate the novice recordist helping them to better understand the multitrack recording process. The 788 video also focuses on answering the most common questions faced by 788 users.

    Debuted at Summer NAMM 2000, the 788 ($1,149 MSRP) is a 24-bit, 8-track digital portastudio and features an eight channel mixer, internal effects processing and extensive editing capabilities including waveform display and forward and reverse jog scrubbing of audio. Since its introduction, thousands of TASCAM customers have adopted the 788 as their first hard disk-based multitrack.
