Bringing HD Audio to Smaller Venues and Stages

Mackie adds an ultra-compact 2-way powered loudspeaker into its highly successful HD Series – the HD1221 High-Definition Powered Loudspeaker. Built upon the same innovative design as its larger counterparts, the HD1221 delivers 1200W of peak system power via ultra-efficient Class-D amplifier technology. With integrated Mackie active electronics and the implementation of Mackie’s patented high-definition digital processing, the HD1221 offers amazing performance and power for such a small loudspeaker. Its asymmetrical design also makes it an ideal stage monitor.

“We designed the HD1221 to give our customers Mackie’s premium high-definition, high-output sound in a lightweight, ultra-portable and versatile package,” said Ben Olswang, Mackie brand product manager. “A compact loudspeaker has never performed better.”

With custom transducer design and system tuning by the high-end touring experts by EAW, the HD1221 delivers stunning sonic results. The 12˝ neodymium woofer is perfectly matched with the 1.75″ heat-treated titanium compression driver that is fitted into a custom-designed, user-rotatable 90x50 horn by Martin Audio. Three user-selectable voicing modes allow the user to easily adjust the speaker’s tone for the application at hand. The rugged all-wood cabinet is pole-mountable, stackable, flyable and delivers the perfect angle for use as a stage monitor.

“Just pair it with the HD1501 powered subwoofer for the ultimate portable HD rig,” added Olswang. “...that system couldn’t be easier to set up and the sound quality is simply amazing.”

The HD1221 High-Definition Powered Loudspeaker will be available in late Q3.  The HD1221 will have a retail price of $999.99, €999.00 including tax and £799 including VAT. See the HD1221 during the PLASA Show on Mackie’s Stand 1-F4 from 12-15 September 2010 in London, England.
