  • Ludwig's 100th Anniversary Kicks Off at 2009 Winter NAMM

    By Guest |

In celebration of a legacy that started in 1909 with two brothers and a bass drum pedal, Ludwig Drum Company's 100th Anniversary was officially kicked off at the 2009 Winter NAMM show in Anaheim California. The celebration began at the Anaheim Gardenwalk's Movie Experience where the Ludwig team premiered the DVD documentary "100 Years of the Most Famous Name on Drums" to a capacity crowd of Ludwig Artists and family members.

"It is a fitting tribute to my family's legacy to see all of you here tonight", said Bill Ludwig III. With his sister Brooke Ludwig-Crowden, they both paid tribute to the memory of their father, Wm. F. Ludwig II, who passed in 2008. The documentary, which will be available commercially in May, was then presented to the many artists who took part in the building of the company.

Also at the event, Ludwig veteran Todd Trent was presented with a special engraved Black Beauty in appreciation of his 25 years as Artist Relations Director. Todd Trent has been synonymous with Ludwig for top artists for over 25 years, working with some of the finest drummers known to mankind. He originally started as an unofficial artist representative for Ludwig on the west coast, but eventually took over the entire program managing the Ludwig needs of over 100 drummers around the world. "Ludwig drums have been the industry standard since 1909 and the tradition and quality continues on today better than ever with a sound that could only be Ludwig", said Kevin Packard, Director of Marketing, Combo Percussion.
