LeCompte Electric Bass has joined forces with bassist Charlie Padilla Maqueo, from the Mexican
rock band ELAN, to bring you our newest signature model.

ELAN has earned recognition as being the first Mexican band to successfully release albums sung
entirely in the English language. Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, ELAN was formed in 1996
by lead vocalist and keyboard player Elan Sara DeFan (sole composer of the band’s work) and lead
guitarist and producer Jan Carlo “El Viking” DeFan, later joined by their cousin, drummer Michel
"Cheech"Bitar DeFan, bass player Carlos “Charlie” Padilla Maqueo, and rhythm guitar auricio “El
Pato” Lopez.
ELAN is known for their 60’s and 70’s style rock music marked with philosophical lyrics and sonic
experimentation as well as their innovative and elaborate live shows. Being one of Latin America’s
most critically acclaimed and commercially successful independent latino bands ELAN has sold
more than two million albums worldwide and has recorded seven albums to date.
