  • Korg Displays MR-1000 1-Bit Professional Mobile Recorder

    By Guest |

The MR-1000 is an ideal, affordable solution for source recording, as well as for archiving final mixes and master recordings. The tabletop MR-1000 delivers up to 1-bit / 5.6 MHz recoding resolution, doubling industry DSD recording quality standards. The unit supports multiple recording formats including DSDIFF, DSF and WSD 1-bit formats, as well as multi-bit PCM format (BWF) with resolutions up to 24-bit / 192 kHz, and it can also play back MP3 files. The MR Series' proprietary AudioGate file management/conversion software allows users to manage, edit and convert DSD recordings into other formats. OS Version 2.01, free with each recorder (or, alternately, available as a free download at Korg.com), represents a major improvement over the previous iteration and includes many new features. New file editing tools include "Normalize," which allows files to be exported at their highest level without clipping. The software also includes standard TPDF dithering, plus Korg's own enhanced "AQUA" dithering, which closely follows human hearing characteristics for much more musical and natural sounding results. Additionally, AudioGate 2.01 can be used to create DSD audio discs that preserve the superior audio fidelity of 1-bit recording made on all Korg MR-Series recorders. These enhanced discs can be played in a variety of devices, including Sony PlayStation®s, VAIO® computers and certain stand-alone DSD players. Traditional audio CDs can also be created directly within AudioGate. Finally, in addition to existing single-bit DSD/DSF and multi-bit BWAV formats, AudioGate 2.01 now includes the ability to import and export FLAC files. The MR-1000 features studio quality, ultra low-impedance mic preamps with balanced XLR / 1/4" inputs with phantom power and built-in limiting, plus XLR and RCA outputs. The portable MR-1000 features a lightweight yet rugged metal housing with sleek, streamlined designs. A large backlit LCD offers optimum visibility under all lighting conditions. For added durability and location recording, the unit can be powered by AA batteries or via the included AC adaptor. The Korg MR-1000 Professional Mobile Recorder is currently available, with a U.S. MSRP of $1499.
