    By Guest |

AMS Neve Ltd, one of the world's premier manufacturers of professional audio products since 1961, has announced Genesys—a hand-built expandable analogue recording console with digital workstation control and a base configuration starting under $50,000 US. The new console debuted at the 112th AES exhibition in NY and will ship before the end of 2007.

"As the name implies, Genesys represents a new dawn for the Neve brand," explained Frank Massam, AMS Neve VP of Business Development. "This console is designed to provide exactly what the market wants—an affordable Neve analogue desk with our legendary sound, digital control, and the ability to expand and interface with a range of modern equipment. Thanks to its attractive pricing, Genesys enables the widest possible range of professionals to put a genuine Neve console at the heart of their studios."

Genesys builds upon Neve's 40 years of accumulated technical heritage, including legendary mic preamplifiers and highly revered analogue circuit design. The base configuration offers 16 channels of mic / line preamps, 16-channel DAW monitoring, 16-channel analogue summing at mixdown, DAW control for Pro Tools, Logic, Nuendo and more, 8 auxiliary buses, 8 group buses, 2 main outputs, 4 effects returns, comprehensive metering, 5.1 monitoring, 2 cue mixes, talkback services and an internal power supply.

As studio owners' requirements change, Genesys can be expanded to over 60 channels in a straight or articulated frame, with options including motorized fader automation, recall, mastering-grade A/D and D/A converters, digitally controlled EQ and dynamics, remote mic amp control and much more.

"Genesys is made to capture performances. It's for people who want to record real, live musicians into their digital audio workstations with rich, full Neve analogue sound," said Robin Porter, AMS Neve Head of Analogue Design. "It also serves as an excellent studio control surface with comprehensive monitoring and signal routing capabilities. This eliminates the typical hodge-podge of awkwardly interfaced devices, putting a proper console back at the heart of the studio."

As with all Neve products past and present, Genesys offers impeccable sound and build quality. Even the console stand and frame were developed in conjunction with internationally renowned studio designer Roger D'Arcy of Recording Architecture in London.

Pricing: $50,000 U.S. and £30,000 for all other countries.
