Electro-Voice Unveils X-Line Concert Loudspeaker Series

EV (Electro-Voice) is unveiling its newest advance in live sound technology, the X-Line Series. The X-Line system was designed to provide wide horizontal dispersion (90°) from a single line vertical array while providing exceptionally coherent wave front summing in the vertical plane. A newly developed high-frequency wave front alignment device provides planar and time coherent signal addition. The broad bandwidth vertical planar summing provides uniform sound field distribution throughout the listening area.

Stereo imaging is improved due to the X-Line full bandwidth mid-bass loading. Extended low-frequency polar control produces controlled power response, further enhancing the overall system intelligibility.

The X-Line system consists of the main system enclosure, the XVLS, a down-fill cabinet, the X-fil and an extended bandwidth dual subwoofer, the X-sub. The XVLS main components are double EVX 155 bass drivers and newly developed twin neodymium 8-inch mid bass drivers loaded in a close spaced vertical configuration. Three ND-5A high-frequency drivers are coupled to a 90° horizontal by 2° vertical wave guide via a unique wave front alignment device to provide seamless addition of adjacent XVLS systems in the vertical plane.

The newly developed ND-5A driver has taken proven diaphragm and magnet structure technology to a new level with time domain refinements to further improve the level-independent characteristics found in all ND-5 level compression drivers.

The X-fil is a down fill enclosure that features identical components as the XVLS but provides a natural aiming for down fill/short throw requirements while maintaining the full vertical line array integrity.

The X-sub is a double 18-inch system whose physical footprint is identical to both the XVLS and the X-fil system. The X-sub is loaded with EV's renowned EVX 180b concert sub drivers.

The X-Line rigging is an enhanced version of the tour-proven X-Array front/back hinge concept. This rigging concept provides rapid load-in/load-out with high reliability and ease of use.
