Electro-Voice® is displaying the Eliminator® Double and Eliminator® Monitor--the latest additions to the redesigned and enhanced version of its legendary Eliminator Speaker Series--at Summer NAMM, Demo Room 2010 and Booth 5311. Living up to the trend-setting reputation of its predecessor, the new Eliminator series, which also includes the Eliminator, Eliminator Sub and Eliminator Amp, features excellent performance at an unbeatable price for the serious DJ or working musician.

    Eliminator Speaker:

The Electro-Voice Eliminator is a high-peak output, high-efficiency two-way stage system. The 15-inch low-frequency and constant-directivity, high-frequency system incorporates EV's Ring Mode Decoupling (RMD) to substantially improve vocal fundamental intelligibility and produce an "up front" tonality capable of cutting through even difficult acoustic environments. The Eliminator enclosure has a unique design that presents a very minimal frontal cross section while still maintaining substantial internal volume. A newly developed handle allows for extremely comfortable transportation. The design is lightweight, but very rugged, and features a heavy metal grill and stylish corner protection. A new flat wire voice coil has been instituted for enhanced reliability plus an increased power handling rating of 350 watts.

"In the late 1960's, the original Electro-Voice Eliminator started a revolution among working musicians by providing the first speaker with decent bandwidth that could handle the power demands of modern music," says Jamie Bergen, EV product category manager for speakers. "Following in that tradition, the new Eliminator is designed to bring impressive sound quality to a road-rugged system, all in a high-value package."

The updated, two-way Eliminator speaker system delivers an on-axis frequency response of 50 to 20 kHz (±3 dB) with a long-term power handling rating of 350 watts (based on EIA Standard RS-426A). The Eliminator uses the powerful EV DL15BFH 15-inch speaker to handle bass, while midrange and high-end duties fall to the EV DH2010A compression driver and High-Q 60 degree x 40 degree constant-directivity horn. The Eliminator system also offers a companion 18-inch subwoofer--the Eliminator Sub--to greatly extend the low-frequency response. All Electro- Voice speaker components provide uncompromising performance under the stress of live music applications. Eliminator subwoofers employ rock-solid cast-aluminum frames that will not bend or crack, while providing superior heat dissipation for added system reliability.

Eliminator compression drivers use pure titanium diaphragms for a beautifully detailed, extended high-frequency response. The crossover systems yield the exact frequency-to-component efficiency match (1600 Hz) that gives the Eliminator its optimum sound quality. Designing a system that can survive the torture of transport and constant stage setup and breakdown is a challenge handled by the exclusive use of EV's RoadWood. At half the weight and twice the strength of particleboard, RoadWood is a void-free, dimensionally stable material that makes each Eliminator cabinet lighter than similar-sized wood cabinets, yet much stronger. The Eliminator cabinet weighs in at only 66 lbs. EV also specified the popular easy-lift handles similar to its X-Array Series for Eliminator, making the cabinets comfortable to pick up from any angle. An integral stand mount accommodates 1 3/8-inch tripod speaker stands.

    Eliminator Double:

"The Eliminator Double is perfect for touring musicians and DJs who don't want to carry a two-box system and for live sound applications that need more low-frequency punch," says Bergen. "The Eliminator Double can also be used in combination with the Eliminator Sub or other EV subwoofer systems to provide a wide-range, high-output system. Bigger is better when you're talking about the Eliminator Double. With two powerful 15-inch EV woofers and EV's High-Q 60-degree x 40-degree constant directivity horn providing perfect balance on the top end, EV has created a single speaker system that can provide a fatter, richer sound than many two-box systems. When combined with EV's Eliminator Amp, the resulting matched system competes with and outperforms other portable sound systems.

    Eliminator Monitor:

The Electro-Voice Eliminator Monitor is a 350-watt, 2-way floor monitor that incorporates EV's exclusive RMD technology. The Eliminator Monitor features a constant directivity 80 degree x 55 degree horn in a vertical orientation that provides usable monitor angles of 50 degrees and 65 degrees. The system uses the newly developed DL15BFH low-frequency driver to provide both extended low-frequency response and cleaner fundamental vocal reproduction. It also uses the DH2010A high-frequency pure Titanium driver. The Eliminator Monitor also features a stand-mount adapter on the woofer side for vertical orientation and the self-resetting high-frequency protection of EV's PRO circuit and a rugged, lightweight enclosure. The result is a very high-performance system with excellent vocal reproduction and extended bass response. When used in conjunction with EV's matching Eliminator Amp, the two form a fully functional and versatile matched system.

    Eliminator Sub:

The EV Eliminator Sub is a single 18-inch subwoofer system capable of 1600 watts of peak power and designed to produce very high-peak output music. This system can be used either in conventional bi-amplified operation or, in passive mode, connected in parallel with the Eliminator or any full-range high-peak output stage system. When used in parallel, the combined impedance is 4 ohms. The Eliminator Sub includes a top-mounted stand adapter and an 18-inch pole mount for use with the Eliminator full-range system. The system's input connections are 1/4-inch phone, but may be also ordered with the Neutrik® NL4MP (identified with the suffix "E"), that is recommended for higher power operation. The vented enclosure offers excellent power handling and low distortion in the lowest octave of rated operation. EV has also incorporated a built-in subwoofer crossover, eliminating the need for a separate electronic crossover and power amp.

    Eliminator Amp:

The Eliminator Stereo Power Amplifier is a high-quality amp designed to elicit extended excellent performance from the Eliminator stage system. Its low distortion and substantial headroom ensure that program material will be accurately amplified. It provides 380 watts per channel at 8 ohms (1,200 bridged), 600 watts per channel at 4 ohms (1,700 watts bridged) and 850 watts per channel at 2 ohms at 1 kHz. State-of-the-art dynamic limiters and a 5-way protection system make it virtually impossible to "blow" the system, while boosting output by 1 to 2 dB in "real-world" conditions. High-current Neutrik Speakon® output connectors for channels A, B and bridged operation for loss-free connections and active-balanced XLR-type input and paralleled XLR-type output connectors provide easy signal routing. Rear-mounted dB-scaled detented level controls provide easy gain control.
