    Edirol's latest high-end sound module, the SD-80, was announced at Summer NAMM show. The SD-80 is the flagship of the new Studio Canvas line of Edirol sound modules. The SD-80 is one of the most universal USB sound module solutions ever produced conforming to GM2, GS, and XGlite specifications. The SD-80 also ships with a powerful software editor that can control the SD-80's sound parameters via a graphical interface. The software editor provides complete control over tone editing, patch changes and effect parameters. It has a suggested retail price of $850.

    The key SD-80 features include:

    • GM2/GS/XGlite compatibility with 32-part, 128-voice polyphony
    • 1,050 tones, 30 drum sets, 3 Multi Effect units
    • Can be rack-mounted for studio use, or vertically mounted for desktop use
    • Optical/Coaxial Digital output (S/Pdif)
    • SD-80 Editor Software included (Win/Mac)
    • 2-stereo/4-mono multi-outputs
    • 2-port external MIDI In/Out/Thru
    • WindowsXP/2000/ME/98, MacOS (OMS/FreeMIDI), MacOSX compatible
