Daisy Rock Donates Guitar to Sea Now Showcase at SXSW
By Guest |
Daisy Rock Girl Guitars donated a Retro-H Special in Blue Sparkle finish to the Sea
Now Showcase—sponsored by independent label popantipop—at this year’s South by
Southwest Music Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. The event is being held in support
of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, an international non-profit marine
wildlife conservation organization.
Over 60 bands will be playing the Sea Now Showcase from March 16 – 19, including
Amusement Parks on Fire, !!! (Chk Chk Chk), She Wants Revenge, Art vs. Science, Remy
Zero, and The Bravery. Activities at the event will benefit Sea Shepherd.
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society was established in 1977 with the mission to end
wildlife slaughter and habitat destruction in the world’s oceans. Sea Shepherd uses
innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action to expose
and confront illegal activities on the high seas. Their efforts are depicted in
Animal Planet’s hit docu-reality television series, Whale Wars. In the true spirit
of rock n’ roll, the Sea Shepherds take matters into their own hands by fighting on
the frontlines for a cause they believe in and have become the self-proclaimed good
pirates of environmental activism.
“Although I have been aware of the cause of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society,
we had never directly been involved with them. After speaking with Marc LaCorte at
Schecter Guitars about his passion for saving the whales and supporting this
organization, this cause seemed completely worthy to be involved in. Save the
whales, please, everybody, save the whales. There is not a bigger mission at hand
than to protect our environment and its wildlife. We are so proud to contribute to
this event!” said Tish Ciravolo, President and Founder of Daisy Rock Girl Guitars.
