Following the recent debut of the AT4040 Cardioid Condenser microphone, Audio-Technica has added several new enhancements to its 40 Series microphones.

The AT4033/CL, AT4047/SV and AT4050 Cardioid Condenser Side-Address Microphones have been updated with attractive, eye-catching packaging and now include a velour microphone dust cover. The AT4041 and AT4051a Cardioid Condenser Microphones are currently shipping with the new packaging design.

In 1992, Audio-Technica introducedthe AT4033 Cardioid Condenser Microphone. Now, a decade later, A-T pays tribute to this classic transducer technology with the AT4033/CL Cardioid Condenser Microphone. A specially contoured, vapor-deposited gold diaphragm provides accurate reproduction of even the subtlest sounds, especially high-frequency signals not easily reproduced by conventional large-diaphragm microphones. The AT4033/CL's symmetrical housing assembly surrounds the microphone capsule, creating an open acoustical environment ideally suited for studio work where natural reproduction of off-axis sound is paramount.

Audio-Technica's AT4040 Cardioid Condenser Studio Microphone is a large-diaphragm microphone featuring a true condenser design (externally polarized) and utilizing Audio-Technica's latest transducer technology with state-of-the-art surface-mount electronics and transformerless circuitry. Audio-Technica's engineering team developed an entirely new large-diaphragm element for the AT4040, designed specifically to provide smooth, natural sonic characteristics with a wide dynamic range and the ability to handle extremely high SPL's.

The 40 Series offers a wide palette of sonic choices. From the up-front presence of the AT4033/CL to the vintage sound of the AT4060, every 40 Series microphone is individually tested to ensure it maintains optimum performance characteristics and consistency from model to model. Emphasis is always placed on providing unfailingly professional performance, a wide dynamic range, and extremely high SPL capability.

Commenting on the new developments in the 40 Series, Michael Edwards, Audio-Technica product manager for wired microphones, stated, "The enhancements to our 40 Series are based on extensive market research from our reps, dealers, and artists who have relied on the 40 Series for over a decade. Our attractive new packaging was designed to draw attention to the 40 Series on the dealer level, while the velour dust cover offers added protection to the microphone when not in use. Ultimately, we are conveying the high level of quality, both in construction and sound, provided by our 40 Series microphones."
