New from Apogee Electronics is the Rosetta 200, the latest addition to a new generation of Apogee converters. The Rosetta 200 is a 2-channel version of its cousin the Rosetta 800 but offers the new "CODA, Audio Finishing Module", a trio of tools designed specifically to meet the demands of the hi-definition digital. Along with CODA, the Rosetta 200 features MIDI support, and full channel metering.

Rosetta 200's CODA is a trio of tools that includes, Apogee's Aptomizer, a Level Normalizer, Sample Rate Conversion (SRC), and UV22HR, Apogee's dithering technology. First, CODA optimizes incoming audio levels with the Aptomizer, an intelligent analog level normalizer. Second, CODA provides new generation Sample Rate Conversion (SRC) that allows up or down sampling with a minimal loss of sound quality. Finally, CODA incorporates Apogee's industry standard UV22HR to reduce hi-resolution audio to 16-bit for CD mastering or Internet use. With CODA and premium Apogee conversion, the Rosetta 200 provides an end-to-end solution for capturing and maintaining the integrity of high-resolution audio.

The Rosetta 200 has other features like an expansion card slot for Apogee's new X-Series cards which facilitate direct connection to Pro Tools HD and Mix (X-HD and X-Digi-Mix cards) as well as a direct FireWire connection that supports S800/S400 standards (X-FireWire card).

    Rosetta 200 Feature Summary:

    • 2 channels of premium 24-bit AD/DA conversion
    • Sample rates up to 192kHz with Apogee's "Intelliclock"
    • 2 channels of AES, S/PDIF (coax & optical), and ADAT/SMUX I/O MIDI I/O
    • Optional FireWire expansion card for compatibility with OS X, and Windows XP (X-FireWire card)
    • Optional expansion card for direct connection to Pro Tools HD & Mix systems (X-HD card, X-Digi-Mix card)
    • "Soft Limit" for maximum digital level without overs
    • "CODA": The "Aptomizer" Level Normalizer, Sample Rate Conversion (SRC), and Apogee's "UV22HR" for superior dither to 16-bit
    • Full channel metering

    Pricing and Availability:

The Rosetta 200 with CODA is expected to ship in June 2004 with an MSRP of $1995.
