Alfred's innovative new Jazz Play-Along Series expands to include great jazz standard titles, books for rhythm section instruments, and easy-level books. Each new volume for this year offers a play-along book containing nine popular jazz tunes arranged for C, B-flat, E-flat and Bass Clef instruments, plus the addition of an available correlating rhythm section book containing written-out parts for piano, bass, and drumset. The rhythm section book offers jazz improvisation play-alongs to piano, bass and drumset players.
"The goal with this series is to teach improvisation skills at every level, not just the advanced musicians," said Belwin Jazz Editor, Pete BarenBregge. "Most play-alongs simply provide chord progressions and solo opportunities, but this series also features a written-out sample jazz solo, along with specific tips on how to construct your own solo for each song. This format helps break down the elements and makes improvisation more accessible."
A CD or MP3 disc included with each book contains tracks by top-level professional musicians to demonstrate the melodies, style, interpretation, and sample solos provided for each song, along with multiple jazz choruses for plenty of soloing opportunities. In addition, the play-along tracks allow a soloist or group to learn and perform with the rhythm section only.
