Fender Telecoustic (I need to lower the action) Help.

For a plastic guitar, I really like the Fender Telecoustic.

I like to use it for travel, because if I bash it up, I really don't care too much.

My issue is that the strings are way too high, especially past the 12th fret.

Is this something that can be fixed will a truss rod adjustment, or is there a better way to lower the action?

Can I do it myself, or would it be wise to take it into the shop?

Thanks for the help!

the truss rod is not made to lower action. so that's a bad idea.

the way to do it is to sand down the bottom of the saddle. if you go too low you'll get buzzing though. new saddles aren't *that* much though.

i do it by taping down a piece of about 150 grit sandpaper to a table then rubbing the bottom of the saddle across it being sure to keep it flat..it's important that you keep the bottom flat and level as you sand...

there should be a tutorial with pictures on that site..just look for saddle work, or something similar...it's an excellent site.
