Members p4vl
I've had this Peavey XXX combo that I was getting fixed up to sell. Long story short, the tech accidentally installed JJE34L's ("They're practically the same thing as el34's.") , amp went POP, and he fixed the screen grid resistors or whatever. Now it sounds better than ever, better than my Engl Screamer, as I don't have to use an OD for rhythm.I also have an extension cab (Lopo 2x12 with v30's). I hate v30's, with the e34l's it's just mids fizz and and fizzy mids. After doing some research, the Eminence Swamp Thang/Texas Heat combo seems the most interesting. Anyone had any experience with these speakers in a high gain situation? Also, I'm a bedroom player, so I'm worried that the Swamp Thang will be too bassy for my at-home playing (and I've heard some very well recorded samples of the Texas Heats holding their own with high gain amps).
