Members STRAT TOOL
How do I run a sub set up? I have an Allen and Heath WZ16-2DX board I use a Carvin DCM 1500 amp to fire four 2-way EV's (15") I saw some EV subs for sale used at the Guitar Center, I think they are T-18's, they were $399 each but I think I can hammer them down about though. I was thinking about buying a second DCM1500 to drive two of these. Questions: Are subs connected mono? DO I need a crossover? What else do I need to know? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS I picked the DCM1500 to match the one I have and give me the option of using the two of them mono on the mains in the future.
Members Kid Klash
You'll need that second stereo power amp, and you'll need a stereo two way active crossover. The stereo line level output from the mixer connect to the inputs of the crossover; the inputs of one stereo amp driving the two-way speakers connect to the "100hz and up" outputs of the crossover; the second stereo amp inputs driving the subwoofers connect to the "100hz and down" outputs of the crossover. Most active crossovers are tune-able frequency-wise... I chose 100hz as a typical example. You may decide to try a different frequency depending upon your system and the room you put it in.
