Members bruto
The Hearts of Space thread started me thinking about New Visions, a show that ran on VH1 when it was just started. I remember seeing Suzanne Ciani, Mark Isham, and Robert Fripp doing some of the shows. It was cool, came along when New Age music was at its height, then sort of morphed into a smooth jazz show, then vanished.
Members Meganulon-X
That's "Smooth Age," according to David Lanz. There are a few clips of Suzanne Ciani's appearance on New Visions over at YouTube.
Members carbon111
Heck, I still remember when MTV still showed music videos...and there was no VH-1. ...Hell, I even remember when there was no MTV, all we had was "Night Flight". [Aside: My favorite memory of getting cable wasn't MTV, it was being able to watch more Hogan's Heroes.]

It was on USA Network on Saturday nights if I remember right - early vids and really experimental computer graphics stuff. But what I liked about New Visions was the fact that they showed how music was made, how synths and sequencers worked, early computers in studio use, etc. I have seen the Suzanne Ciani vids on YouTube. She's so cool.

Members kennychaffin
Me too. Saw the DEVO movie, lots of videos, a great Genesis concert right after Peter had left...watching Phil sing "Carpet Crawlers" and Tony bang the black-and-whites was such a joy... /QUOTE] That would have been (would be) interesting to see. I saw them live just before Gabriel left the group. I can't really imaging them doing some of the songs without him. KAC

I'm a huge Gabriel/Genesis fan and was surprised that Phil could just pick up the slack like that and not suck. In fact, it was pretty good! People can say what they want about Phil's solo-career MOR dreck but the man is a consumate professional! ....plus we can thank him for the over-used "gated tom" sound
