  • The Music Links Directory

    [FONT=century gothic][SIZE=3]Greetings!

    I have a humble request to all musicians out here in Harmony-Central. Let me list that in short(!):

    "No matter what your level of expertise in music, you would have definitely found (at some point in your life) some sites on the web very useful in improving your music knowledge/understanding.

    There are literally thousands of webpages on the internet which offer free information on Western Music - be it theory, composition, creativity or any other. But, sadly, only a few of those contain quality content (that would actually improve our music knowledge/understanding). Again, most of those lie deep in the ever growing complicated World Wide Web.

    Consequently, most people would have read only a few of those information, and would have found the internet only a little useful in building their music knowledge.

    So, here is a place where we can share links to various quality music resources (lessons, tutors, referance, tips, advice, examples, free samples, music templates, etc., etc.) with other people who also have a few good links to share.

    Thus, we can share our findings with all people and in the process find other useful information (through other people) lying in the web that had previously been unexploited by us!

    And, the ultimate aim is to create a Directory of links to webpages which provide quality information on Music. This will be for all HC-Musicians, by all HC-Musicians!"

    [FONT=times new roman]Guidelines:

    You can post links to anything that you had found on the internet that had helped you (even to a small degree) attain the level of music knowledge you now posses.

    GENERAL FORMAT: (modify as you please)

          Alan Belkin's home page:

          http://www.musique.umontreal.ca/personnel/Belkin/e.index.html

          His book on composition in particular - everyone should read it.

          Some useful links and information from Peter McIlwain (my composition lecturer):

          http://arts.monash.edu/music/MUS2660/

          Again, useful stuff for everyone.

          Forever,

            for gear reviews, articles (and used gear ads if you're in the UK) -

            Gear reviews section specifically is HERE

            www.futuremusic.co.uk is also OK but you have to search a bit harder for reviews and articles

                          Rosskoss had "Private Message"d me a few links which I am posting below:

                          Complete courtesy : Rosskoss

                          http://www.musictheory.net/
                          http://www.teoria.com/
                          http://www.wholenote.com/ - this site is mainly for guitarists. But music theory is the same for all instruments so you may find some useful lessons. For example

                          http://www.wholenote.com/default.as...ew.pl%3Fl%3D240

                          Thats a lesson that non-guitarists can benefit from.

                          Other sites

                          http://www.chordwizard.com/hmw100.asp
                          http://www.andymilne.dial.pipex.com/
                          http://www.notationmachine.com/how_...eadingmusic.htm

                          http://www.musicarrangers.com/star-theory/ (nice site but its not very easy to comprehend some times)

                          Thanks Rosskoss
