help IDing a guitarist on an old recording

Back when I was a kid I heard this track Root of Star by Marc Bolan's band T Rex.

It was the record just before they hit the big time.

 

It's somewhat silly lyric similar to what Noel Redding might've written but if you can tolerate it, there's actually some well-nuanced wah gtr vaguely like shoed up later on JJ Cale's "Crazy Mama", though not as smooth.

 

Here's my qeustion: can that actually be Marc Bolan ?

I have not been able to find any listing that accounts for anyone else playing on that record (prod. by Tony Visconti).

 

Anybody hear this before ?

Have any idea who it might be ?

Why would you think that wasn't Marc Bolan?
