Check it out. http://triggera.com/kick-pedal-trigger I got one of these a few weeks ago because my Roland kick-pad was waking up my wife. It doesn't happen anymore with the Krigg. It doesn't use a beater, just the bottom of your kick-pedal. It took a little getting used to, but now I don't even think about it. My heel-toe technique is better and it just feels all-around tighter and faster. I prefer the Krigg to my Roland pad and I'm starting to think it makes using a beater obsolete. Of course, YMMV. It's pretty cheap too. $70.00.
