Question on turntable cartridge

I am in the process of converting all my vinyl to digital.  I have a nice old denon DP 30L turntable that I bought new back in the early 80s.  I have a pretty large collection of hard to find vinyl but time has not been so kind to some of them in storage.  What cartridge is great at tracking older vinyl some with some slight warps, scratches etc.  I have a grado black which sounds good but no so great at tracking less than stellar vinyl?  I was thinking of putting a shure M44 on it?

Any thoughts

Thanks
