Members turdadactyl
I spent 10 years DJing in the days of CDs. The good ol' days of lugging around 1500 CDs, a Pioneer DJM500 and CDJ500's, a whole bunch of lights, etc. Friggin time of my life! I gave it up about 5 years ago and as a result, stopped really keeping up with the trends in DJ tech. What do you guys use these days? Having everything in digital format obviously makes life a lot easier, but then there's the issue of sound quality, the ability to fader start, etc. I'm curious about what people are using for hardware, what format you're storing music in, are you using software controls or still using the same mixers? Thanks.
Members gruvjack
Lots of options. There's Serato Scratch LIVE, which lets you manipulate music on a computer thru cd decks or turntables. Pretty much the gold standard these days. There are a bunch of hardware controllers like the Denon DN-HS5500, Pioneer CDJ400, Cortex, etc. That being said, there nothing quite like vinyl. V. Members turdadactyl
Thanks gruv. I also saw Traktor which looks pretty cool. Does one have a big advantage over the other? Is it all personal preference?
Members gruvjack
I suppose it all depends on what exactly you want to do and how you want it done. It boils down to a matter of preference, much like cheesesteaks or soft pretzels V.
