Members Altered Flesh
What the {censored} is your singer saying, is that english? Recording tip: don't let the singer shoot up until AFTER you've tracked vocals.

Well, I could pick out a word here and there....

Members murphmusik
Musically- Good Vocally- Not Good I hear 2 problems with the vocals: 1- cannot understand more than a few words...2- the vocal mix is bad, very boxy... Both of those put together make it an irritating experience for a listener.
Moderators justcrash Posted April 14, 2005 Moderators Share Posted April 14, 2005 Wow. That is awful. Please fire your singer and take some lessons.
Members orgasmofdeath
fire the singer?? you must be joking. and yea the mix isnt so great, but what do you expect from only using 2 rooms mics.
Members murphmusik
The mix has nothing to do with the fact that you can't understand the words of the singer. It sounds like incoherent mumble. You cannot distinguish any words. I wouldn't say fire her, but she really needs to work on annunciation. Unless your particular audience connects with that kind of thing and listens to you for just the music. This is constructive criticism...not bashing. Just want to make that clear.... Look at the posters name and I think that's what the singer is going for
Members orgasmofdeath
ok well i guess 'the visionary' is the only song where you cant really tell what she is saying, but check out the other ones they are pretty clear!

I expect that you wouldn't record that way, and if for some reason known only to God you thought doing so was a good idea, you wouldn't be foolish enough to post it on the internet and ask for opinions from a bunch of musicians, most of whom are into recording. Members orgasmofdeath
^^Like i said in the first post, these are simply rough tracks, 'pre-production' so the members of the band can spend some time listening to them and figure out which ones we want to actually make quality recordings of. You really need to chill out, and just listen to the SONG, it's not that hard.

Since they're "'pre-production' so the members of the band can spend some time listening to them and figure out which ones we want to actually make quality recordings of", and since no one here is in the band, what purpose does it serve to post them here? And yes, it in fact is that hard -to listen to.

Members TheBoatCanDream
You're in the rainYou're in the thunderAnd you feel my painAnd you feel my painYou're in my heartYou're in my soulYou're with me nowAnd you're everywhere I goAnd you're everywhere I go I can understand her just fine, folks. I don't think the singer is a problem at all, I think she's quite lovely. The vocal track does sound very hollow though and there's the occasional pop. The recording quality is very indie, which maybe you like and keeps you scene, but I'd prefer something more professional which will only come from better equipment and someone at the controls with experience. Members Blackwatch
" You're in the rainYou're in the thunderAnd you feel my painAnd you feel my painYou're in my heartYou're in my soulYou're with me nowAnd you're everywhere I goAnd you're everywhere I go" I had an elglish teacher in college that had a saying that drove me crazy because for the longest time I didn't really understand what she was getting at. It was: SO WHAT?. And I'd give the whole song a big SO WHAT? What is this song telling me that I don't already know? What's it telling me musically that I haven't already heard? And I'd have to say...nothing. Keep at it and quit posting your material on the web if you don't want to get blasted.
Members TheBoatCanDream
So what? It's a simple little song. What's wrong with that? We don't need to all write lyrics like Blake Schwarzenbach before we play anything. How many blues tunes are there about getting dumped or drunk or dumped and drunk? They aren't telling us anything we haven't heard before, but we don't care because we love the music. It's nice when lyrics are particularly clever or profound, but it's definately not the norm. You're missing the point. He posted stuff and asked for opinions. He got them, and then wanted to argue about it. Like you're doing. I didn't realize it was a debate. If I ask someone if they like my haircut, and they say no, they think it makes me look stupid, what good does it do to say "No, it doesn't" unless I'm not really looking for opinions, but fishing for compliments? Members murphmusik
Posting songs here is potentailly risky. By that I mean you have people from all over the world, and from every age bracket. What's cool sounding in some areas of the world...may not be so somewhere else. Or what's hip to 18 year olds is not going to get you the same reaction from a 40 year old. Doesn't mean your music is bad, or that you should replace your singer. It's just a wide open range of opinions that aren't going to be too helpful to you. If you are seriously looking for opinions and feedback about your music...target your demographic audience and ask them.

Well some people should trust older more experienced people on these boards. Most of the stuff on here is 70 percent bad and sounds like half the other {censored} out there. Yes the opinion does matter sometimes and that is because people come here looking for support and advice. Bad music is bad and if you post something up here don't get mad when someone does not say something you want to hear or offers advice.

Would that make the band in question's song structure, the execution of it, and the overall quality any better? Of course not. But in your mind, it would just make my opinion of it invalid. Carry on.
