Question about Stanton s-250 CD player

the trick

A friend of mine got a set of Stanton s-250 CD players late last year. After one or two gigs with them, it turned out that skipping issues on them were a nightmare in a club setting. He took them back to the store where they were bought and a few months later, they were replaced with a new set of s-250s. The new decks have a slightly different logo and appear to have a few different parts inside, even though it's still the same model #. He hasn't been able to test these decks in a full volume environment yet.

My question is: Does anyone know how extensive the changes actually are on this version? Did they actually do anything about issues with skipping, or is this merely a cosmetic difference? There doesn't seem to be any mention of this change anywhere online.

Just so you know what I'm talking about. Here's what the two models look like:

I can't help you with the Stanton issue but I can tell you that if CD players skip in a club environment, they were not well designed for club use. The least you can do is place foam or bubble wrap under them and make sure they don't touch anything else in the console (eg: mixer, mic stand, etc). If there is a monitor speaker in the console, make sure it is not sitting on the console with the cd players. If there is a subwoofer near the cd players, turn it down. The reason for this is to minimise mechanical vibration. If those suggestions don't work, the alternatives would be to either avoid clubs altogether or get better cd players.

Thanks for the tips! Indeed, they were definitely not well designed for club use. The hanging question, however, is whether or not any of those flaws have been improved in this version. We have something planned for the weekend, so I'm wondering if I need to keep looking for other gear or if we'll be able to get by with these. It's kind of a big event, so I really want things to go smoothly.
