Sound Quality

Using Sovtek 5881/6L6GC, biased to idle at 33 ma. This one has had all electrolytics replaced. All other preamp tubes are US made. Cabinet is a newer Ampeg 2x12 w/ Celestion Vintage 30's. I use a '91 US Strat Standard w/ Seymour Duncan p/u (single coils). Before blackface conversion and using the normal channel with no effects, I found it too clean for hard rock but great for vintage rock. Great cleaner tones all the way up. It produces a nice clean jazz sound at lower levels, too.

Reliability/Durability

Built like a tank. I'm sure it will last another 30 years now that it's been recapped.

General Comments

I've had it for about a week and also own a real '65 blackface deluxe (non-reverb) and a SF Champ. I previously owned a Marshall JCM 900 Dual Reverb Combo and a Fender Princeton Chorus. This amp has great tone compared to Marshall (which sounded like an ice pick) and is more in-your-face than the Deluxe. I still dig the tone of Champ more.
