What Vocal effect is this?

Hey guys, Im not really an expert in this field, but my band was thinking of doing a cover of this song, but we dont know what effect the singer is using or how to get it, so can some of you help me out?

you can really hear the effect in the intro and in the lines at 4:32.

Sounds just like an overdriven tube type of effect. There are several of them in Izotopes Nectar program that sound alot like that.

I am wondering if it is a 2nd vocal track... are you referring to the higher pitch voicing?

I was referring to the distortion like mentioned in the above post. Is there any way to get that effect just by itself? (Im not sure what the nectar thing is that bfc99 is talking about)

Overdriven tube, like when singers used to hook up to a guitar amp or simply overdrive tubes on the preamp of a mixer. I use a TC Helicon Voicelive Play for that.

Sounds like overdrive.

It's double tracked with a lower voice buried a bit... also a bit off-axis... like he's singing into the side of the mic or through his hands.

For vocal distortion... use a harmonica mic through a guitar amp, overdrive a compressor, or...
